A Tree of Life surely stands as an act of love toward humanity.”

— Angie Han

A Tree of Life is so necessary for how it considers the roots of this bloodshed, and so terrifying for how it sees them continue to spread unabated.”

- David Ehrlich

On the morning of Saturday, October 27th, 2018, eleven people at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh were murdered for being Jewish. As they sat praying, a violent antisemite, radicalized by white supremacy, mass shootings, and hate speech, entered their sacred house of worship and shouted, “All Jews must die!” The eleven congregants, ranging in age from 54 to 97, were brutally murdered in the deadliest attack against Jews in U.S. history.

A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting is rooted in a community in the aftermath of a violent attack, as they work to rebuild and heal. Despite core differences, they come together to determine what justice looks like and how to best move forward while honoring and learning from the past. The film sheds light on the collective trauma suffered by a tight-knit group and brings into sharp focus the hate-based rhetoric that surrounds many of the mass shootings today, threatening the fabric of our society.

Please join the fight against antisemitism and all forms of identity based discrimination and violence.

“We can change other people’s lives in a positive manner because that is what the victims would have wanted.”

— Anthony Fienberg, son of Tree of Life victim Joyce Fienberg

Please see below for the beautiful song Idina Menzel wrote for the film to tribute and honor the victims, survivors, and families.
